Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said that it took him 13 years to bring a new and environmentally friendly project to a site that had remained shut for 20 years. He was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the ethanol plant by Central Biofuels Ltd. in the Navelim Industrial Estate in Sankhali.
Speaking as both the Chief Minister and the MLA of the Sankhali constituency, he expressed regret that 80% of the land in the Navelim Industrial Estate is held by Vedanta Company, and that of the remaining 20%, 10% has been allotted to establishments that provide no benefit to Goans. He directly blamed the politicians of that time for this situation.
